Dr. Barry K. Logan

Dr. Barry K. Logan is Director of Toxicological and Forensic Services for NMS Labs in Willow Grove, PA, leading their crime laboratory and expert services groups. He is recognized internationally as a leader in the field of alcohol and drug impaired driving. 

 

After spending four years in Memphis at the University of Tennessee, Dr Logan served for nineteen years as state toxicologist for the state of Washington, overseeing the State's blood alcohol and drug testing procedures. He has studied, presented and published papers examining the relationship between driving, impairment and toxicology results for a long list of drugs including methamphetamine, marijuana, MDMA, carisoprodol, GHB, lorazepam, topiramate, tramadol, toluene, difluoroethane, and others.

Dr. Logan is Board Certified by the American Board of Forensic Toxicologists (ABFT), and is active in many professional organizations and committees. He has served as Vice President, and is currently Treasurer of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Dr Logan has testified in civil and criminal cases on behalf of prosecutors and defense attorneys, plaintiffs and defendants in over 200 trials in eight states and in federal court, and has served as a consultant to NHTSA, the United Nations, and other international groups.   Dr. Logan was the recipient of TIAFT's 2003 mid- career achievement award for excellence in forensic toxicology, in 2006 received the McGovern Award for innovation in drug abuse prevention, and in 2010 received the American Academy of Forensic Sciences prestigious Rolla N. Harger Award for outstanding contributions to forensic toxicology.   Dr. Logan has been selected as the 2011 winner of the Borkenstein Award from the National Safety Council.
